Calling all restaurants and hungry customers for #TheGreatShorelineTakeout!! We invite you to participate in #TheGreatShorelineTakeout, a one week event launching on Sunday, January 31st and culminating on Sunday, February 7th (Super Bowl Sunday).
This campaign, designed to keep awareness high about the challenges restaurants face, will ask our Shoreline consumers to do the following:
• Engage friends, families and colleagues to support our Shoreline restaurants by upping their takeout game!
• Post on Social Media in advance of the event, encouraging friends and followers to take part with the hashtag #TheGreatShorelineTakeout
• Order delivery or pick up for at least one meal during the week, sharing photos on social media and tagging them with #TheGreatShorelineTakeout .
Restaurants, to be included, post a 60 second video, or mouthwatering still shots of your best takeout picks on your Facebook or Instagram pages, tag @shorelinechamberct and/or @localfirstct and we will share and promote. Please also use #TheGreatShorelineTakeout hashtag.
Since the pandemic began, restaurants have lost more revenue and jobs than any other sector, according to the US Census Bureau. Restaurants operate on the thinnest of margins even in good times. Yet, they are a such vital part of our economy and the fabric of our communities. Nationally, independent restaurants employed 11 million people before the pandemic; but 4.5 million restaurant jobs have already disappeared, probably for good. Restaurants pay rent, property taxes and support local supply chains, with 90% of their income invested back into the local economy. They need all the help we can give them.0
