Yale Science Diplomats present the third of five Science in the News talks this spring: “Bodybuilding and Building Bodies: Upgrades from Nature and Technology.” An increase in the human lifespan has compelled the need for building and maintaining healthy bodies. In this month’s Science in the News talk, three Yale scientists will discuss the ongoing efforts towards making our bodies healthier, stronger, and more resilient. Through studying the lasting effects of exercise on our organs and bodily systems, designing robots that enhance body functions, and investigating how animals can regrow body parts—scientists are leaving no stone unturned to build better and more adaptive bodies. Talks are open and free to the public! Thursday, April 4th @ 7:00PM - Guilford Free Library (67 Park St, Guilford) Monday, April 8th @ 6:30PM - New Haven Free Public Library, Mitchell Branch (37 Harrison St, New Haven) Tuesday, April 9th @ 6:30PM - Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, Monroe (733 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe) Science in the News brings science to the general public in the form of an annual lecture series held at public libraries in the New Haven area. Graduate students and postdocs deliver talks on current topics in science, ranging from the microbiome to the feasibility of a real-life Jurassic Park. Reading materials and a vibrant Q&A session further engage attendees in discussion. Our goal is to make science fun and accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. We want to provide people with a better understanding of the science underpinning many of the complex issues we hear about in the news every day.
