Assistive Technology Coordinator

Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Assistive Technology Coordinator is responsible for providing assessments and/or training as it relates to assistive technology needs for those with intellectual and or developmental disabilities, to help them select and utilize adaptive devices to assist with equal access. This position will join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team to provide services that are aligned with best practice.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum of a BA or BS degree from accredited college or university with a focus in Assistive Technology, Speech Language, or related field preferred. AAC experience or willingness to learn a plus.
· Completion of an Assistive Technology Certification Program
· Maintenance of required minimum CEUs to maintain professional certification as applicable
· Ability to interact well with varying ages, cultures, abilities; solution-oriented approach to work assigned
· Ability to complete data collection and analysis.
· Minimum of two years’ experience working with individuals with I/DD
· Ability to work successfully, both independently and in a team environment
· Must be over 18 and possess a valid Connecticut driver’s license, have an acceptable driving history and be able to utilize your own vehicle for Lumibility business as defined by Lumibility’s policy.
· Experience with reading and understanding policies and regulations and translating general guidelines into specific action
· Possesses high level computer skills, especially Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
· Working understanding of all populations served by the agency.
· Proficient in identifying, collecting, maintaining, and tracking information.
· Ability to learn how to assess, train, and implement Assistive Technology.
Location: Remote/On-site Westbrook
Hours: Full time 40 hours/week
Salary: $60,000.00
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (not limited to):
· Complete community and/or home-based assistive technology assessments and training.
· Assess clients’ limitations and strengths to identify appropriate assistive technology devices that is beneficial for individuals, staff, and families.
· Compile reports and document all necessary follow up on assessments and trainings completed.
· Work with Adult Services department
· Work closely with colleagues and community partners to assess, develop, and implement innovative opportunities to address the spectrum of service needs utilizing AT services.
· Participates in Agency and team meetings, as needed and as requested to assess assistive technology needs.
· Occasionally provides training to employees as delegated and/or requested.
· Ensures documentation adheres to the standards set by DDS and the other applicable fiduciary bodies.
· Assist in the maintenance of assistive tech library of equipment.
· Ability to attend Assistive Technology related trainings and conferences.
· Other job duties as assigned.

REQUIRED PHYSICAL EFFORT: Must be able to sit at a desk and stand at an assigned location and work for extended periods of time; bend/stoop, kneel and balance frequently; climb, reach above shoulder level; push/pull, squat and crouch occasionally; must be able to retrieve file information from file cabinet drawers ranging in height from 1’ to 5’ from floor; carry reports and equipment weighing up to 75 lbs; move computer paper in boxes; must have access to a vehicle during work hours and be able to drive.
