    MADISON LYRIC STAGE PRESENTS A FREE EVENING OF MUSICAL THEATER AND OPERA FAVORITES AT THE GUILFORD PERFORMING ARTS FESTIVAL
     
    FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 AT 9:00 P.M. AT CHRIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH IN GUILFORD
     
    Marc Deaton and John Johmann Will Perform Alongside Members of the Madison Lyric Stage Emerging Artists Program
     
    Madison, CT – September 9, 2019 – Madison Lyric Stage, an award-winning, professional theater company serving the Connecticut Shoreline, will perform From Broadway to the Met, an evening of musical theater and opera favorites, at the Guilford Performing Arts Festival on Friday, September 27 at 9:00 p.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church Guilford, located at 11 Park Street on the historic Guilford Green.
     
    Madison Lyric Stage founders Marc Deaton and John Johmann, will perform alongside members of the company’s Emerging Artists Program.  The performance is free-of-charge.
     
    Audiences can expect to hear selections from musicals Sunday in the Park with George, Parade, The Secret Garden, Pippin and Phantom of the Opera, and operas Der Rosenkavalier, Pearlfishers and Madama Butterfly, including a selection from Madison Lyric Stage’s upcoming October production of Hansel and Gretel.
     
    “We are thrilled to be a part of the Guilford Performing Arts Festival and to provide this free concert to Shoreline audiences,” said Marc Deaton, artistic director of Madison Lyric Stage.  “We are also proud to present young professionals from our Emerging Artists Program.  Madison Lyric Stage is committed to training the next generation of musical theater and opera artists, and we are excited to provide them with this wonderful performance opportunity.”
     
    Members of the Madison Lyric Stage Emerging Artists Program performing in this concert are: Jacob Boergesson, Lindsay Botticello, Sarah Himmelstein, Allison Lindsay and Allison Waggener.
     
    Madison Lyric Stage is set to present an audience-immersive production of the classic fairytale opera Hansel and Gretel October 4-13 inside the historic Deacon John Grave House in Madison.
     
    Madison Lyric Stage is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity and arts collective for the Shoreline of Connecticut.  Its mission is to present affordable, professional-quality entertainment from the worlds of opera, musical theater and drama.  Past productions include:  A Little Night Music, Agnes of God, Blithe Spirit, Company, Evita, Godspell, Into the Woods, Jesus Christ Superstar, Macbeth, Of Mice and Men, Peter Grimes, Salome, The Glass Menagerie, The Turn of the Screw, and many others.
