Harvest Day at The Dudley Farm Museum

Harvest Day at the Dudley Farm will take place on Saturday, October 21^st, with a rain date of October 28^th. As in past years the Farm will be filled with activities for the entire family. There will be an area dedicated to children activities to include the ever popular corn sand box, pumpkin painting, the bean bag toss, and hoop the pumpkin. And new this year we will have professional face painting during a portion of the day.

For those who like to see demonstrations, there will be sauerkraut making in the Granary section of the barn and the blacksmith shop will be running all day. In addition corn grinding utilizing tractor power will also be on display. Beekeeping and honey making will take place on the grounds, along with soap making and a spinning demonstration. Want to learn how to cook on an old stove? They'll be a demonstration in the School House building.

In the main Museum there will be a weaving demonstration in addition to house tours of the Museum. The Munger Barn will be the site for tours of our Native American Museum collection.

Like animals? The farm has a variety of animals for viewing and includes a talk by Mark Dudley about our largest inhabitants, Bob and Dave, the oxen. They'll also be a few cows on display from Half Mile Acre Farm, and Barb Hammerlund will be available to answer any of your questions.

Want to take home a pumpkin? Just guess the weight and it's yours. The pumpkin will be at the Museum's information table located near the main house.

Food? Oh yeah, we'll have our famous hot dogs, Larry Santamaria's chili, and refreshments available for purchase to help silence that appetite you'll work up walking around the farm.

Speaking of food, we will be collecting donations for the Guilford Food Bank with collection tubs located all around the Farm.

And for those who like old things (and the Farm is loaded with old things), they'll be antique trucks, cars and tractors displayed around the grounds.

For those who come to the Farm each week to check out the second longest running Farmers' Market in Connecticut, it will be open during the Harvest Day activities so you can get all your fresh food while enjoying the other activities taking place throughout the grounds.

So plan on coming to the Farm for a pleasant day of activities on October 21^st and as you stroll around you can enjoy the music by the Dudley Farm String Band.
