Attorney Josh Balter brings a unique blend of military discipline and legal skill to Happy Even After Family Law. A retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer with 20 years of service—including combat tours and leadership in Navy health clinics—Josh pursued law after going through his own divorce. He earned his J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law with a concentration in Family Law while still on active duty. Known for his strategic thinking and courtroom precision, Josh successfully argued and won a precedent-setting case before the Connecticut Supreme Court. From 2015 to 2024, he led his own firm, Balter Law, where he handled complex divorce and custody matters. At Happy Even After, Josh focuses on high-conflict litigation and mediation, maintaining a limited caseload to provide dedicated, high-quality representation. Jenna Hyler

Jenna Hyler brings strong litigation skills and a collaborative mindset to her family law practice. She has represented clients in trials involving divorce, custody, and restraining orders, and also guides clients through mediation and collaborative divorce. Jenna regularly serves as review counsel for mediated agreements and drafts prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. She earned her J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law with honors in the Family Law Concentration and was Editor-in-Chief of the Quinnipiac Probate Law Journal. She holds a 40-hour mediation certificate and collaborative divorce training. Jenna also earned a Master’s in Community Psychology with a concentration in Forensic Psychology from the University of New Haven. Phyllis L. MacCutcheon brings nearly two decades of family law experience and a calm, commanding presence to every case. Known for simplifying complex issues and advocating fiercely—especially in cases involving children—Phyllis keeps clients informed and empowered. Jennifer Siegel

Attorney Jennifer Siegel is a dedicated family law attorney focused on divorce, custody, child support, alimony, post-divorce modifications, adoption, and domestic violence matters. She combines compassion with strategic insight to help clients navigate complex legal challenges. Jennifer also has experience in administrative law, including professional licensing issues and criminal pardons. She earned her J.D. from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, concentrating on women, gender, and the law. While in law school, she externed with the New York Legal Aid Society and represented domestic violence survivors through the Pace Family Court Legal Program. She also worked with the Connecticut Children’s Law Center evaluating the best interests of children in legal proceedings.
