• Branford Community Foundation and Ascend Bank Distribute Over $30,000 in Sponsorship Funding to Community Organizations in 2025

    The Branford Community Foundation (BCF) is pleased to announce the final round of 2025 sponsorship awards in partnership with Ascend Bank (formerly GSB). The final sponsorships will be awarded to seven organizations receiving a combined total of $5,590. This brings BCF and Ascend Bank sponsorship funding for 2025 to over $30,000, with 31 organizations receiving support for their events, fundraisers, and initiatives. 

    “Our sponsorship program is one of the ways that we are able to give back to the incredible community of Branford. Whether supporting our local nonprofits in their fundraising events, or providing funding for programs that bring needed resources or joy to our area, it gives us the opportunity to directly raise up local organizations who are making a difference each and every day,” said Liza Janssen Petra, Executive Director of the Branford Community Foundation. “We are grateful for the continued support from Ascend Bank who makes this funding possible, year after year, and for the donors who continue to invest in our mission to connect people who care with causes that matter.” 

    The final sponsorship award recipients are:

    • BHcare, Inc., Shoreline Family Fun Day 2025 

    • Branford Compassion Club, Animal Awareness Day 2025 

    • Camp Rising Sun, Annual Night Out 

    • Legacy Theatre, 2025 Theatre Gala 

    • Rotary Club of North Branford, Fall Fling – Dancing Through the Decades 

    • Shoreline Eldercare Alliance, Celebration of Healthy Aging 2025 

    • The Branford Electric Railway Association, Inc, The Shore Line Trolley Museum 125th Right of Way Anniversary 

    Sponsorships are considered for a single event (i.e. gala, road race, etc.) or a series of individual events held by an organization over a given time period, to increase visibility or for fundraising. To learn more, please visit BranfordCommunityFoundation.org/apply-for-a-grant.

    The Branford Community Foundation, founded in 1980, is a public, nonprofit, tax exempt, charitable trust. It provides an administrative, philanthropic service – a means by which public-spirited citizens may make gifts or bequests, the income from which is distributed for educational, cultural, health, social, and civic needs. The Foundation is overseen by the Board of Directors, composed of community leaders who serve without compensation and who have been selected for their knowledge, interest, and integrity of judgment. A part-time Executive Director works with the Board of Directors, and Advisors provide outreach with the community, give guidance to the Board, and help to develop future leadership.
